So Geoff spent yesterday in the pouring rain putting up the first floor joists. The beam was too low, so thepillar and wall have been built up again!

Its Raining...
Well it hasn't stopped raining...

Beam in!
Well, here they are - the first two beams are in. Bolted together and resting on metal spreader plates after the building inspector declared the concrete blocks weren't hard enough.

Pillar
We have a pillar (and less bricks!) Half the gable wall outer leaf is down, we have a little woodworm in the first floor joist and we can see the unfilled, 2 inch cavity in the existing outside walls - the new thermal blocks (Airtek aerated concrete blocks) and 75mm insulation (Knauf Dritherm cavity slab) should make a huge difference.
